Credit Union Data — Frequently Asked Questions

What Depository 360 is, where the data comes from, and how to use it to research credit unions, CUSOs, and rates.

What is Depository 360?+

Depository 360 is an independent financial-intelligence platform built exclusively for credit unions and CUSOs. It combines a live CU newsroom, a rates & product tracker, a regulatory radar on NCUA/CFPB actions, every credit union's NCUA 5300 financials, a CUSO directory with AI classification and SWOT analysis, and an AI vendor diligence workbench.

Where does Depository 360 get its credit union data?+

From authoritative public sources: the NCUA 5300 Call Report (filed quarterly by every federally insured credit union), the NCUA CUSO Registry, FDIC BankFind for banks, FRED for macro data, and 22+ trade publications and regulator feeds. It is not affiliated with NCUA or any credit union.

Are credit union financial statements public?+

Yes. Every federally insured credit union files a quarterly NCUA Form 5300 Call Report, and the data is public record. Depository 360 turns all ~4,300 of those filings into a searchable financials matrix — every account code, with two years of history and trend lines, free to explore.

How current is the data on Depository 360?+

Credit union financials refresh each quarter, automatically, when NCUA publishes the bulk Call Report file (typically 45–110 days after quarter-end). Deposit and loan rates are refreshed more frequently, and the newsroom updates continuously.

What is a CUSO?+

A CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization) is a company owned by one or more credit unions that provides services like lending, technology, insurance, or back-office operations. Depository 360 tracks 1,117 CUSOs from the NCUA registry, each with a structured SWOT and an AI-product segment.

How do I compare credit union and bank rates?+

The CU rates page ranks 700+ credit unions and banks across savings APY, certificates (CDs), 30-year mortgages, auto loans, and credit-card APR, with a composite score so you can see who is most competitive on deposits, loans, or overall value.

What's the difference between a credit union and a bank?+

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit cooperatives; banks are for-profit and owned by shareholders. Credit union deposits are called 'shares' and insured by the NCUA (NCUSIF) up to $250,000; bank deposits are insured by the FDIC. Credit unions often return earnings to members through better rates and lower fees.

What is the NCUA net worth ratio, and what counts as healthy?+

The net worth ratio is a credit union's net worth divided by total assets — the core capital-adequacy measure that sets its NCUA Prompt Corrective Action category. 7.00% or above is 'well capitalized.' You can see it, ROAA, loan-to-share, and efficiency for any credit union in its financials matrix.

Is Depository 360 free?+

Yes — the public-record data is free to explore: credit union financials, the CUSO directory, and CU & bank rates. Create a free account to unlock the deeper diligence tools, AI-vendor intelligence database, peer benchmarking, and M&A workbench.

Who is Depository 360 for?+

Credit union executives, finance and ALCO teams, analysts and consultants, CUSO vendors evaluating the market, and members who want to research the financial health of their own credit union.

Is the data on Depository 360 guaranteed to be accurate?+

No. Depository 360 curates data from public sources and provides it for information only, with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Data may be incomplete, delayed, or out of date. Always verify information directly with the original source — such as the NCUA 5300 Call Report, NCUA CUSO Registry, FDIC BankFind, FRED, or the institution itself — before making any decision. Nothing on Depository 360 is financial, investment, legal, or other professional advice. See our Disclaimer for details.

Do you use my data to train AI, or share it with third parties?+

No. Your data is never used to train any AI model, and it is never sold or shared with third-party vendors for their own purposes. When you run a live analysis, we send only what's needed to perform that specific request to our data and AI providers so they can return a result — we do not authorize them to train on your data or use it for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.

Are credits and payments refundable?+

Live, AI-powered analyses run on prepaid credits ($1 = 1 credit), which pay for queries to third-party data and AI providers on your behalf. Payments are not refundable for credits that have been used or for purchases that have been completed. If a specific live analysis fails to return a result, the credits charged for that single analysis are automatically returned to your credit balance as credits — that is a credit reversal to your balance, not a refund of money.

Does inclusion in the NCUA CUSO Registry mean a CUSO is NCUA-approved?+

No. LEGAL DISCLAIMER: The CUSO Registry is intended for the NCUA to gather certain operational and financial data of CUSOs. The data allows the NCUA to monitor ongoing risks, identify emerging trends, and allocate resources effectively. Inclusion on the Registry does not serve as NCUA's endorsement, consent, or authorization that a CUSO is in compliance with NCUA's rules and regulations. Credit unions may use the Registry as a resource to find contact and service information about various CUSOs; however, before investing in or lending to a CUSO, credit unions must comply with all applicable state or federal requirements and should conduct the necessary due diligence to ensure their compliance.
